The First Step: Standardizing the Data
The United States Postal Service developed the Coding Occupancy Support System (CASSTM) certification as a way to allow mass mailers to receive discounts for providing standardized and high quality addresses for mailing. Today, CASS is an industry standard for processing name and address records prior to mailing.
As a first step in all of our data hygiene and enhancement services, records are parsed and CASS-certified to ensure the highest degree of postal deliverability. The CASS process standardizes all of the address information, provides zip+4 information, and returns Delivery Point Validation (DPV) codes to validate accurate delivery information.
CASS-certification is also an important first step prior to subsequent processing to ensure consistency throughout the entire data hygiene process.
